While this rescue may not be very exciting, it gives everyone a warm, fuzzy feeling. But, the truth is, it’s not all that common. Cats may run up a tree in a panic if they are chased, but they are rarely trapped. It may take them a little while, but they usually manage to climb down on their own.
But, all bets are off when it’s a dog stuck in a tree. Unlike cats, dogs don’t climb, so it’s pretty rare to find one in a tree. When you do, there’s pretty much no way that the dog is getting down on its own — especially when it’s a giant pup.
Wes McGuirk came home to find his Great Dane, Kora, stuck 20 feet up in a tree. He couldn’t reach her with his own ladder, so he called the fire department.
“While we were responding, we were admittedly somewhat skeptical,” said firefighters with Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire Department. “Upon arrival, sure enough, there she was. A 120-pound Great Dane about 20 feet up in the tree.”
Rescuing a huge dog like Kora proved to be quite a challenge, but the firefighters used ingenuity to help the trapped canine. Watch the amazing rescue in the video below and please like and share!
